Johan Value-Pejtersen Triumphantly Reinstated as 2024 Danish Time Trial Champion Seven Months After Disqualification

The Danish Biking Union (DCU) has reinstated the elite males’s time trial name of Alpecin-Deceuninck rider Johan Value-Pejtersen seven months after he used to be disqualified from the development for driving at the pavement.

25-year-old Value-Pejtersen, then driving for Bahrain Victorious, received the name with a 47:06 time at the 41km path in Herning final June, beating Mattias Skjelmose (Lidl-Trek) to victory via simply two seconds.

In line with UCI legislation 2.2.025, “It is strictly prohibited to use sidewalks, paths or cycle paths that do not form part of the course as defined in article 2.2.015, separated by kerbs, verges, level changes or other physical features.”

Consequences for infringements (dependant on race degree) come with a CHF200-1,000 positive plus a deduction of 15-25 UCI issues, a yellow card, and a possible time penalty, downgrading of outcome, or disqualification of the rider’s outcome “in serious cases of advantage, endangerment, repeated infringements or aggravated circumstances.”
