Tragic Loss: Teenage British Time-Trial Champion Killed in Coaching Trip Collision with Car

The British biking group is in mourning after the tragic loss of life of 18-year-old junior time trial champion Aidan Worden on Saturday.

“Aidan has been part of 360 for over 3 years, during that time he has developed as a person, man and rider to a level few of us ever achieve,” the workforce wrote. “2024 saw some amazing rides from the boy that set out a clear example of what a young person can achieve with the right determination.

“As his trainer and as team-mates for the closing 3 years, observing him develop, educate and mentor others, we’re completely center damaged. Our ideas are very a lot together with his cherished circle of relatives that he leaves at the back of. RIP Aidan you’ll be very a lot neglected and all the time in our hearts!”

Worden enjoyed a hugely successful 2024, which included becoming national junior 25-mile time trial champion, and being the first junior rider to finish in the Eddie Soens Memorial Race.

Tributes from across the sport began to pour in for the 18-year-old over the weekend. His teammate Maxwell Hereward wrote: “He was once a person I’m proud and love so deep in my center I’m gonna leave out you mate, I am hoping you had a just right previous couple of months with me and everybody round you I like and leave out you such a lot.”

“Everybody at British Biking is devastated to be informed of the tragic lack of Aiden Worden. A promising younger ability and extremely valued good friend and teammate, there is not any doubt this loss will likely be felt deeply through the entire biking group. Our ideas are together with his circle of relatives and family members at this extremely tough time,” British Cycling said in an X post on Monday.

The forces DS Matt Davidson said: “Our ideas are with this younger guy’s circle of relatives, pals and family members at this hard time. They’re being supported through specifically skilled officials. An investigation is underway, and I’m interesting for lend a hand from the general public.
